Ayasha Wood is a surface designer, specializing in embellishment for fashion. With an eye for colour and composition, she utilizes a unique mixture of techniques, including multihead embroidery, hand stitch and digital print, to create distinctive textures and surfaces with a strong visual impact. Ayasha places a strong emphasis on quality and craftsmanship, objecting to today's obsession with 'fast fashion' to adopt a more ethical approach. In fitting with these ethics of sustainability, Ayasha chooses to upcycle vintage fabrics and garments, using high quality tailored pieces donated by friends or sourced in charity shops, and adorning them with sumptuous bespoke embellishment. Her work can be applied to a variety of contexts, and she is available for design work and commissions.
